I wish I could say a bunch of things about how wonderful and amazing it was
but really
a lot of things made it suck, and they weren't even personal drama things. I:

so the con was at a new hotel this year, the Hilton Anatole, which is supposed to be this swanky, nice hotel.
Well, I couldn't get a signal for my internet OR my regular phone service ALL WEEKEND. If I got a text out at all, it was a miracle, and that was just to tell my other con-going friends where I was at.

The layout was really spread out, which is understandable and due to the layout of the hotel, but the registration lines caused a huge clog that just...
Well, registration was in the artist alley, which was next to the dealer's room. both of these were down a very long, very narrow hallway which took quite awhile to walk to from the hotel rooms as is.
the lines for registration sprawled all the way down this hallway into the other larger rooms of the hotel lobbies. this left about a 2-3 person-wide space in the hallway to squeeze through, and, as many of us were in cosplay and trying to get to and from the important rooms, this proved to be very inconvenient.
There was such a clog up that on saturday, the hall was at a standstill, with 3 lines formed up and held back, due to restrictions on how many people could be in the rooms at once.
(on sunday they limited the amount of people in the dealer's room, too, and once I was in there it wasn't even close to packed. it was very open and spacious- I had no clue why they were being so strict.)
All of these issues caused the con staffers to get pissy. Very pissy. They yelled and screamed at people for minor things, and even pushed some people into lines or out of groups. They yelled and screamed whenever someone asked a question because they'd answered it before to somebody completely different.
and then, the raves were pretty lame. The music was very repetitive and uninteresting. There were no remixes of anime songs, not even hardly any remixes of popular songs on the first night- I don't think any words even played during the friday rave, just the same beat for 2 hours (and this was after an hour delay in the first place.) the second night started alright, then was made better by Internet Friends - Knife Party, and a remix of a pokemon song, but then it went downhill with a beat too fast to dance to or too slow to enjoy. Nothing else really drew us in, so many of us left.

Everything kind of piled together to create a crap con, and it was highly disappointing. The good aspects, however, did help.

There were plenty of excellent cosplayers and nice people at this convention, including some old ones I've met at previous cons. I finally had a nice cosplay my friend made for me, a 3 am variation dress for Jade Harley from homestuck. It was a lot of fun joining the Homestuck shoots, and getting a lot of pictures taken around the con. That, and my togepi costume was fun on the final day during a Crunchyroll Livestream, from which people recognized me. uwu That was definitely a major highlight to the weekend, as I always love getting a chance to chat with the people online. Though it got crowded and I ended up leaving due to that reason.
A creeper (minecraft) came into the rave the first night, and pretty much hopped around for a couple hours. once a crowd joined around her, she began swaying back and forth, and it made my night much better.
I also got to meet Katie Tiedrich, the artist behind the Awkward Zombie comics, which I've been reading for years. You should definitely check them out - [link] - there's an update about every sunday, mostly video game-related stuff. very funny. Anyways, she was super nice and drew a picture of Entei in the front cover of her book for me. I'm so glad I had the chance to meet her. She's been an inspiration for me for awhile, and even gave me the basis for what to expect in college with her comics. <3 aaaaa.

So there was good, and bad, and I hope next year the kinks are worked out.
I'm glad I got to meet so many people at the con! I hope I didn't freak you out. uwu
